“When it rains, it pours or gets overbooked!”
Okay, remember when I said finding dress clothes for my son, Jose, had been the hardest part of planning this trip to Arizona?
Boy was I wrong!
When I got home from my workshop, we got a call that our flight had been overbooked. We would not be able to depart as planned at six o'clock in the morning. Our original itinerary had us leaving Boston, through Houston and Arriving in Phoenix by 12 noon their time.
Now we had to leave at 12:55 PM from Boston, through Cleveland to arrive in Phoenix by 2:00PM.
Okay, no biggie. I already knew we were going to miss his first game so I had no problem with the change. The way I saw it, it meant we had more time to get there in the morning and plenty of time to check in, etc.
Everything went according to plan in Boston. Actually it went even better, because we ran into some of the nicest people who helped us all the way to the boarding gate. Yeah, I know being on crutches and placed on a wheelchair has its perks, put they truly went above and beyond.
I will not mention the flight itself because sardines in a can, does not even begin to cover it! Mel had it the worse, he was sandwiched between a "stressed out soccer mom and her not hearing it talk to the hand" daughter. Better him than me, poor thing!
We arrived in Cleveland on time. That is where it fell apart!
It seems everybody on the Continental United States is an obnoxious parent and going to Arizona as well! I know, I know, who knew?
So we got bumped again and we are now stuck in Cleveland! No, I am not surprised!
The options are, hope and pray that we get on the 9:00pm straight to Phoenix. The odds are not too good since that flight is overbooked by twelve people! What are they thinking that the plane is magically going to expand suddenly?
Or we can hope and pray that we can get on the 9:30PM flight to Las Vegas, rent a car and drive five hours to Phoenix. This option is iffy too since that flight is over booked by three people!
Maybe I can take them out with my crutches when no one is looking, so we can get their seats! Kidding, people, just kidding!
So as the sonnet goes here I woe, uh, wait!
I swear to goodness my kid better get signed for a gazillion dollars after all this dilemma!
I know, I know, the joys of parenthood.
I'll keep you all posted! In the meantime I will try to give you some updates on the tournament as soon as I can!
Taxi anyone?
